What is the Child Protection Register

The Child Protection Register is a private list kept by the Local Authority. It includes the names of children who are thought to be at serious risk of harm.

Only certain people, like professionals working with children, can find out if a child is on this list. If a child is on the Register, these professionals must tell the child’s social worker if there are any significant events or a child’s circumstance changes.

What is a Child Protection Plan?

A Child Protection Plan is a plan made together by you, the social worker, and the people involved in your child’s life. It explains what needs to be done to keep your child safe and lower the risks they might face. This plan is reviewed and updated every month in meetings called Core Groups

What is a Core Group?

While your child’s name is on the Child Protection Register, you will meet every month with the social worker and other key people who support your family. These meetings help everyone see how the Child Protection Plan is working and talk about any new concerns or information.
